Dandelion Vineyards

Dandelion Vineyards brings together sites spread across the Adelaide Hills, Eden Valley, McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley. Our wines represent decades of experience, blending the fruit of our heirloom vineyards with the finest traditions of artisan winemaking. Dandelion Vineyards is a combination of old vineyards, a young winemaker, and a couple of mates to help out in-between, which we believe makes for the ideal winery.

Our vineyards are our family, their wines our children. Serious stuff, certainly. Proper fun, absolutely. The lifelong search to appreciate and understand the essence of wine, its terroir, leads us on a vinous treasure hunt, following the Dandelion's Wishing Clock if you will, that always inspires.

PRODUCTS IN THE 2019 FESTIVAL VILLAGE:

Red Queen of the Eden Valley Shiraz
Single vineyard shiraz from Eden Valley. Hand Picked. Only 250 doz produced. 2.5 years in aged french oak. Has won many trophies including Best Red Wine at Barossa Wine Show."Loaded with oak but the fruit is so bright and floral - so pretty- that it's entirely up for the challenge. Sweet, smoky, savoury and perfumed at once, this blue/red/black-berried wine comes shot with woodsy spice and primed with fine-grained tannin. James Halliday. Rating 95 Points

Wonderland of the Eden Valley Riesling
Single vineyard riesling, from vineyard just below Red Queen Shiraz in Eden Valley. Only 300 doz produced. Ages beautifully."A piercing, wincing, uncompromising wine; drinking it is like falling over a waterfall of acidity. From the first sip you lost all control; you're rushed along, youre on the canoe whether you like it or not. You'd call it lemony, or steely, though it's not really a wine for flavour descriptors." James Halliday. Rating 94 Points

Fairytale of the Barossa Grenache Rose
Grenache rose from Barossa. After hand picking in April our winemaker Elena Brooks let the free run basket pressed juice ferment with natural indigenous yeasts in old French Oak barriques. The wine sat on yeast lees for twenty weeks before bottling without secondary fermentation, fining or filtration to capture the essence of our Fairytale. The aromatics are true to type, initially delicate, even shy. Then as the glass warms a melange of spices including cardamom with hints of Lily of the Valley and Pomander that emanating from the core. The palate has drying raspberry entry followed by raspberries more fresh and zingy. All in all a long palate that really saturates your tastebuds with flavour. Please serve chilled.

Lion's Tooth of McLaren Vale Shiraz Riesling. Whole bunches from our most distinctive Shiraz from Nat McMurtrie's Vineyard were hand harvested then fermented on stalks in open fermenters on top of some Riesling skins for eleven days, hand plunged twice a day, before careful basket pressing into some new but predominantly older French Oak Barriques to finish fermentation and enhance the wine’s perfume and palate.

After 18 months maturation and a racking in the same oak, we bottled this Lion’s Tooth without filtration or fining, to capture the essence of the vineyard. Intriguing rose petals and a summer pudding of lifted red fruits, berries and a little lime marmalade from the cofermentation with the aromatic Eden Valley Riesling. Wild cherries, blueberries, and mulberries and an impressive structure balanced by spicy oak
